IBM INVESTIGATED FOR AGE DISCRIMINATION | Burlington Free Press

laid off in June, is under investigation by the Vermont attorney

that the company discriminated against them based on age.

WANTED: CZAR OF KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT | Darwin
Knowledge management efforts that create significant return on
investment (ROI) cannot have a bottom-up focus, though that doesn't
mean popular bottom-up KM concepts such as fostering communities of
practice are necessarily detrimental. It's just that they just will
not generate significant ROI unless the project's overseer is a
strong leader.

THE MISSING LINK | Virus makers less like Dr Jeckyll

When you think of a virus writer, what comes to mind? A mad scientist
plotting Internet domination? A geek with a gangrenous grudge? One
tech consultant, Graham Cluley, says you need to think more along the
lines of a pimply teenager with posters of J. Lo and Britney on the
wall and a preoccupation with video games. Cluley pretty much
pooh-poohs the idea that these kids are writing mission-critical
system killers. He points to the recent DuLoad worm to prove his
point. It arrives in your inbox under the file names "J. Lo Bikini
Screensaver.exe," "Kama Sutra Tetris.exe" and 'The Sims Game
crack.exe," as well as some pornographic names that would make Howard
Stern blush. Sex and games -- basically we're dealing with the two
guys from "Weird Science."
