QUICK HIT OF THE DAY
Try a desktop firewall
Desktop firewall products have been popular for a year or two now and are often employed for the obvious reason that millions of people are connecting their PCs to "always on" cable and DSL modems and they need protection from the evil hackers on the Internet. The focus has clearly been on preventing unwanted traffic from entering your PC, but most desktop firewall software is equally adept at blocking unwanted traffic from leaving your PC as well.

Is the MCSD worth it?
Dear Ed:
Are there any publicly available salary surveys that might help me decide whether getting an MCSD would be worth the time, effort and expense?

THE MISSING LINK
Logging on for a law degree

Some say it raises the bar. Some say it lowers the bar. Either way, its grads are taking the bar. Concord Law School has graduated its first batch of lawyers. Concord is a little different from, say, Harvard Law School. You can't really get a law degree from Harvard wearing your pajamas. Yes, Concord is entirely online with a token brick-and-mortar office in Los Angeles. This week's graduation is the third time in four years that the students have actually met the faculty. The American Bar Association refuses to accredit the school; they don't think law school has a place in cyberspace. Let's face it, in the real world you can't hit the "mute" button when a witness gets hostile.
