SALE! MICROSOFT CERTIFICATION PREP DEALS | by Ed Tittel

I've noticed an interesting trend that will counter the higher costs
of obtaining certification in the wake of Microsoft's decision last
year to increase exam prices -- from $100 to $125 per exam. The
phenomenon I'm about to report is probably a function of the soft
economy and may therefore be transitory. But in the past couple of
months, key players have announced or delivered discount vouchers for
a number of certification exams. These are deals that will certainly
offset part of the cost of obtaining your MCSE or MCSA.

MS CERTS: GOOD CREDENTIALS OR RESUME FLUFF? | by James Stewart

MS and many other organizations convey the idea that the more
certifications you obtain, the higher your salary will be. I hate to
knock Microsoft certifications, but I do need to offer a bit of

PROVING THAT CERTS ARE AN IT CAREER NECESSITY | Ask Ed Tittel

Dear Ed:
I am unemployed at present and need certifications. I am attempting
to get state unemployment to pay for or partner for courses. I need
some hard evidence to present to the case manager, showing why
certifications are needed for an IT career. Currently I have five
years help desk experience, but no formal training or certs. Without
formal training to prepare for exams, I am fighting an uphill battle.
Any assistance you can provide would be helpful.
