They are trying to make the distribution better for Joe Newbie who
installs it on his high-speed always-connected PC, and has no idea that
he's running a mailserver, telnet server, ftp server, etc..

Oh, ya, telnet is disabled by default also.  It is a little annoying for
people who are upgrading.  I was prepared, 'cause I joined this mailing
list before doing the upgrade.  I watched the problems people were having,
and made note to not do them myself.

I think the new version of KDE now has the blue screen of death ;)
