I have the same printer and had the same error. I filed a bug-report with
bugzilla on Mozilla and was told to try a different driver. After some
experimentation, I found that the Laserjet 4M driver works fine most of the
time. (I still get the MIO Error occasionally, but not nearly as often as
before.)
