I need to add a parallel port to a machine running Red Hat 7.1. The
machine has no ISA slots. I bought a PCI parallel card with a NetMos
chipset, which seems to not be supported in 2.4.3. I found a patch at Tim
Waugh's site on redhat.com, but the patch is for 2.4.9 or somesuch and did
not apply cleanly to 2.4.3.

The patch was simple, just add the PCI IDs so the parallel driver would
recognize the card as some generic type. So I hacked up 2.4.3 and got it
to compile. The driver detects the card on a test box, but when actually
hooked up to the printer in the target machine, everything hangs hard with
a "Spurious interrupt: IRQ7" message.

Next I'm going to try Roswell or Rawhide kernels to see if any of them
supports the NetMos chip, but I wanted to see if anyone here had any
advice.
