Consult the cdrecord home page on whether it is listed as I use a TEAC CD-W54EK It's not listed it the list, but I think it's compatible with some Toshiba writer. cdrecord -scanbus lists no found devices - but during boot it's listed and linked witch /dev/hdd > supported.
