Ok, I was able to solve the problem, but somebody
should please tell me what happend:

xmms was configured to play through /dev/dsp.

It looked like

-rw-r----- 1 root root 54 bla bla

then I told xmms to play through /dev/dsp1
which looked like:

crw------- 1 root root 54 bla bla

and I deleted /dev/dsp!!!

Can/must/should I restore /dev/dsp, and when
how? Why where there different flags!

All this happens about 5 seconds after the update
with Redhats' up2date function!
