Hi

I upgraded to util-linux-2.11f-11.7.1.i386.rpm as recommended for security
reasons. Now I am experiencing severe problems whenever opening a console
or a telneting to the machine as a normal user. I got all the times:

Warning: no access to tty (Inappropriate ioctl for device).
Thus no job control in this shell.

and then the shell is completely unusable.

To trigger this it is enough to telnet 0 into the machine or to open a
virtual console (ctrl+alt+f1/2/3...) as a normal user. Downgrading
util-linux makes the problem disappear.

I also updated pine and glibc's to the latest ones in the updates: going
out from pine I got

pceet030:alfredo > pine

GLib-CRITICAL **: file ghash.c: line 138 (g_hash_table_lookup): assertion
`hash_table != NULL' failed.
Assertion failed: ptr != NULL
    (file StringUtil.c, line 1210)
Abort (core dumped)
Pine finished -- Closed read-only folder "INBOX". No changes to save

Very nice! How many of these latest updates are broken?

                      Thanks
                  Alfredo Ferrari

P.S. My machine is a RH7.1 system with all updates in place, 2x1 GHz, 512
MB ram, Dell Precision 420 system, but I don't believe the hardware has any
role in these problems
