In-Reply-To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> A FAQ is a great idea I would suggest some things im sure have already been mentioned.
1. Introduction to IDS (snort, log viewing etc..) 2. How-To for Windows services, what you DO and DO NOT need. With explinations on how to configure these services. 3. Apache/IIS configurations, or atleast a link to where you can read about secure webserver configurations. 4. Setting up basic firewall ACL's. How to block/open ports. Ok thats all :) -- Chris http://elusive.filetap.com >Received: (qmail 23684 invoked from network); 18 Jul 2003 17:24:16 -0000 >Received: from outgoing2.securityfocus.com (205.206.231.26) > by mail.securityfocus.com with SMTP; 18 Jul 2003 17:24:16 -0000 >Received: from lists.securityfocus.com (lists.securityfocus.com [205.206.231.19]) > by outgoing2.securityfocus.com (Postfix) with QMQP > id 1446B8F850; Fri, 18 Jul 2003 11:25:12 -0600 (MDT) >Mailing-List: contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]; run by ezmlm >Precedence: bulk >List-Id: <security-basics.list-id.securityfocus.com> >List-Post: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >List-Help: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >List-Unsubscribe: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >List-Subscribe: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >Delivered-To: mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] >Delivered-To: moderator for [EMAIL PROTECTED] >Received: (qmail 3791 invoked from network); 18 Jul 2003 17:14:30 -0000 >Date: Fri, 18 Jul 2003 11:09:09 -0600 (MDT) >From: Kelly Martin - MODERATOR <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] >Subject: building an FAQ for Security-Basics >Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >MIME-Version: 1.0 >Content-Type: TEXT/PLAIN; charset=US-ASCII > >I will be building an FAQ for the Security-Basics mailing list over the >coming month or so.
