We'd like to start a new Kerberos project. We're requesting endorsement
from you, the security community.

Project Name:
   OpenSolaris Kerberos

Short Name:
    kerberos

Project Synopsis:
    Further develop Kerberos

Project Purpose:

The OpenSolaris Kerberos implementation is based on MIT's Kerberos
implementation. There is an ongoing effort to re-sync new features
from MIT Kerberos, integrate those features with Solaris and develop
    new features.

This project proposes to provide a place for that ongoing effort.

    Possible initial sub-projects include:
        * PKINIT (RFC 4556) support with KMF integration
        * KDC master-key encryption type migration
        * kclient v2: enhancements to support domain joining for AD
                      interoperability
        * Periodic re-syncing with MIT releases.
        * Delayed Execution and Long Running Jobs
        * Removing Solaris-specific #ifdefs and integrating Solaris
          support into MIT krb5

The pages which currently reside at
    http://opensolaris.org/os/community/security/projects/kerberos/
should be re-located to the new project space.

A new mailing list kerberos-interest at opensolaris.org would be
    created.
