As I am sure you already know, the Houston Post has been defunct for 
several years.  They closed shop long before the Internet got any steam.

The Houston Chronicle site has a searchable archive service, but only 
allows searching by actual subscribers to the print newspaper, which I 
don't...presently.

We subscribed to the Post in the 60's.  I was only 10 in 1960 and 
really did not look at the paper much, then.  I just called my mother 
and asked her if she remembers this series, "Shy," and it does not ring 
a bell to her.  So I wonder if it might be the Chronicle?  What paper 
did ya'll take back in the 60's?

I'll continue searching for you in the next few days, but it might help 
to remember an author's name or perhaps one of the character's names.  
That author might have a book available for purchase.
