Hello,

Just had a pretty bad experience trying to register a new domain name
through "9net.com" (Just became "Concentric").

Keeping this short, Concentric's Terms of Service agreement is
unacceptable. When confronted with this, the salesman available through the
1-800 number (800-424-0532) pretty much told me not to worry about the fine
print... that they did offer "free parking" for domain names for a year...
and let's go ahead and get me signed up right now for their CH-1 plan...
(etc.) The salesman finally admitted that he has never read the Terms of
Service Agreement, but was convinced that I ought to just jump aboard
without giving it any thought... (stereotypical salesman)

So... I'm back to square one... I have a domain name picked out... want to
get it registered (ASAP), (but don't want to get ripped off in the
process). And... am looking for a place to "park" my domain name for a
while as I research an honest and ethical host to call home for my new
domain. (I'll pay for it!)

Is there a *good* registration service out there? (I'm sure most can get
the job done eventually, but I don't want to give away the entire store
through their convoluted, one-sided, fine print agreements) I just want to
get registered, pay the fair price, and be left alone. Second, is there a
*good* host out there somewhere? Same requirements: ethical, honest, fair
in the pricing (not ridiculously high or low), reliable, respects privacy,
etc.? (I'll pay the fair price... doesn't have to be "free")

My experience with Concentric has left me wondering if they all are thieves
and snake-oil salesmen surviving on smoke and mirrors out there? Hopefully
not! Who are the good guys? Is there an independent, authoritative, trusted
source that rates the various hosts and registration services?

Sorry for the long post... thank you in advance!!!
