A couple of suggestions:
I've used TotalNIC (http://www.totalnic.com) and haven't had any
problems at all. According to their FAQs:::
<<<Can I park a domain on your nameservers?
Currently the default nameservers provide a parking service for
domains. No additional fee is payable for this service. A web
hosting provider can give you full DNS service. >>>
The cost to register your domain at TotalNIC is $35 for 2 years.
You can also register a domain at DomainBank
(http://www.domainbank.net/) and they will let your domain reside
on their servers. Cost here is $70 for 2 years.
Network Solutions (http://www.networksolutions.com) does the
same thing too....with registration at $70 for 2 years.
Personally, I like TotalNIC the best :-)
Domain hosting: I've had good luck with the following hosts.
Communitech (http://www.communitech.net) - 350 megs of space,
unlimited traffic, lots of extras. $29.95/month payable every three
months.
Webstrike Solutions (http://www.webstrikesolutions.com) - 25
megs of space, unlimited traffic. No Telnet. pay $30 setup and the
first year is free. After that, you pay $8/month. (Their FTP server is
flaky at times but is otherwise an excellant service.)
VirtualAve.net (http://www.virtualave.net) - 25 megs of space,
unlimited traffic, must display a banner. Free. (their FTP server is
horrible at best but you get what you pay for <G>)
PowerSurge (http://www.powersurge.net) - 50 megs of space,
unlimited traffic (read the fine print), lots of extras. $14.99/month for
their lite service. (Be aware that when I was with this service 2
years ago that they had a lot of down time. Great people behind
the scenes but it seemed their service was down quite a bit.)
