What about the 80's nighttime soap "Dallas" - I believe the ranch owned by Larry 
Hagman et. all was a real Texas ranch. I'm sure there is a "Dallas" website out there.

Texas is also big on football. There have been (TV) movies on the Dallas cowboy 
cheerleaders and another one called "North Dallas Forty".

As far as hearing the Texas accent, you might suggest to your friend 
that he rent or purchase the movie, *Giant* (Rock Hudson/Elizabeth 
Taylor).

Other "Texas dialect rich" movies that come to mind are "Hud," "The 
Last Picture Show", and "Paris, Texas"  Those movies, however, were not 
filmed in Dallas.  

Dallas is so metropolitan that I would doubt a movie filmed in Dallas 
would be that "dialect rich."
