FWIW, BN.com & iUniverse.com say they publish the books online
but they don't. All of their books to date are only in printed form.
However, they strip the author of their electronic rights just_in_case
they decide to do go into electronic publishing too. I think it's a
rotten deal to be honest. They are trying to be like the big houses
and many are being taken thinking they are publishing
electronically when in reality they aren't.

I would not allow them to do this. You can get them to take that
wording out of the contract simply by asking. This way, since
you're talking self-publishing, she can also publish the book
electronically and make a few bucks this way too.

And in case you don't know, the big houses have stripped authors
of electronic rights for years. Those authors whose books are now
available in Rocket format are only getting 10% -or less - royalities
because of the wording of those contracts (now some print pubbed
authors are getting more for their ebooks so don't take that as
gospel). It's also interesting to know that Electronic Authors are
getting anywhere from 30% to 70% royalities.

I'll be quiet now ....
