more info about the services mentioned in the letter at the bottom...

when you call a number that has PRIVACY MANAGER
on it there are two types -- one will come on with a
phone company automated recording requesting the
caller to say their name -- informing the caller that the
number they have reached does not accept block calls
and they will need to say their name for the call to
continue to be put through....

another is another phone company automated service
that simply won't allow a number that is unlisted or
blocked to GET THROUGH to the party you are
trying to call --- the automated voice comes on with
the message that "the number you have reached does
not accept blocked calls, please hang up and try
your call again "

and you can

you can try your call again and it will go through

if ...

if you first push
  * 8 2
 and then
the 1
and the area code
and the number
as you would normally dial

example:
if you had been trying to call your mom and
this was her number (606) 521-5687

then to get through you would dial
everything you see below
 (including the star)
*82(listen for tone) 16065215687

what that does is UNblock your number
for that ONE call only...

causing it to show up on her caller ID
 if she has one
and allowing you call to bypass
 the privacy number block
and get through to your mom

this may only work in the USA

and it may not be available in every state

and I don't think it works if you are using a
calling card (for long distance charges)

nor will it work if you are calling from a phone
that requires you to FIRST dial a 9 or some
number to get an outside line

on another note -- I was amazed at what was
available on the SPY link someone shared earlier on
this list.... amazed and a tad frightened makes
one feel "Big Brotherized" that's for sure...

OR to blck YOUR number when you make calls, dial *67. I have it programmed
in to all my calls.
