Alan,

I went to the Microsoft site you mention for downloading Outlook Express
independent of Internet Explorer. I was unable to do so. Can you point me in
the right direction once I get to that page? Thanks.

You can download Outlook Express version 5.5 apart from having to
download IE by going to the Update site:

http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/

That said, I am going to echo the others and suggest you download the
latest version of IE again. IE and OE work in such tandem, that I
thing it best to install the two of them together.

There is a newly released version of IE and I am going to be
downloading it for myself very shortly.

For the new IE version 5.5 (SP1), go here:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/default.htm
