Adviser to the Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia Ibro
Ibrahimovic<https://www.telegraf.rs/teme/ibro-ibrahimovic> assessed today that
the visit of the President of Serbia<https://www.telegraf.rs/teme/serbia>,
Aleksandar Vucic, to the United Arab Emirates is very important because in this
way Serbia shows solidarity with the countries of the Middle East in a time of
crisis, and added that Serbia will be in a better position compared to other
countries and will be able to count on energy cooperation with the UAE, which
is one of the hubs of global energy.

Ibrahimovic told Tanjug that it is important for Serbia to continue building a
network of allies as it has done in previous years, and added that Serbia's
good relations with Hungary, the UAE, Russia, the US, and China show that the
country is conducting a serious policy.

He added that, although major geopolitical entities exert serious political
pressure, Serbia still withstands that, building a good network of allies and
proving to be a good, strategically important partner.

According to him, the future will depend on how many good allies one has and
how much a country is able to secure a stable energy market via those allies.

"When there is a global crisis, it's extremely important how many allies and
what kind of allies you have. The friendships that are created through that
personal relationship between President Vucic and Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan
are very important, I think that the president has shown solidarity at this
moment, which is very important. We also have experiences from 1999 (NATO
bombing of Serbia) and we know how important it is to have an ally in such
moments, who stands by you, if only rhetorically," Ibrahimovic said.

He also assessed that during the visit and meeting with UAE President Mohamed
bin Zayed Al
Nahyan<https://www.telegraf.rs/english/4294205-president-aleksandar-vucic-visits-uae-and-meets-with-sheikh-mohamed-bin-zayed-al-nahyan>,
President Vucic also discussed the participation of the UAE oil company ADNOC
in the process of buying Petroleum Industry of Serbia (NIS), and that President
Vucic, as always, will inform the public about what happened in those
discussions and what is beneficial about those meetings.

Ibrahimovic pointed out that the numerous meetings that President Vucic has had
with leaders and other important people show to what degree Vucic thinks
strategically and about how important it is for Serbia to, in the coming
period, have stable partners that ensure peace and stability, as well as
economic development.

Asked how such unannounced diplomatic visits can contribute to strengthening
trust and stability in international relations, Ibrahimovic said that when a
small country and economy like Serbia shows solidarity and when the president
of that country goes to a country that is under attack in wartime, it shows a
high level of mutual relations, and that Serbia stands with the UAE.

"In the long run, it's a relationship of trust that is built and which is not
easy to destroy afterwards. We live in a world where alliances are extremely
important. Energy is something that will be a challenge in the coming years,
with partners like the UAE it's much easier to overcome such challenges. Europe
is completely isolated in terms of energy, problems that appear in one
geographical area reflect on the whole world, and the consequences of the
blockade of the Strait of Hormuz are catastrophic," Ibrahimovic concluded.
