If you are going to go with an 8" sub, you might want to consider the setup
I have right now. I have a Sony Explod amp (405eqx-with the equalizer on
it) and I just installed a set of Boston Acoustics Rally Series 6 1/2's.
With the equalizer on the amp I was able to tune the speakers, and they have
about as good bass as my JL 8's(not quite as low maybe). If you don't want
to take up alot of space by having a sub box, and if you don't want loud
booming bass you can hear blocks away, I would maybe conside this option. I
think the speakers are like 160, and you can find a 75x2 explod EQX amp
online for about 155(autotoys.com). Like I said its not booming bass, but
it gives a very good presence on the lower end. You might want to think
about getting an amp four all four of your speakers.
