Pioneer and Sony rule for only the ppl who are interested in wasting
their money on amplifiers. Don't get me wrong, Sony makes a damn fine
entry level amplifier, much like what is being asked about here, but it
is by far not the best amp out there.
With that said, I will back-track a little bit:
For someone that is wanting something simply to listen to, and not
compete with, Sony might be your best bet. They are affordable,
powerful, under-rated, and clean.
Also, if you are wanting something that will add bass that you could
feel, and yet not taking up too much space, you might think about doing
a little bit of custom work for your car by raising the level of your
rear deck.
By this I mean that you could cut holes in the rear deck of your car
(the cardboard POS Nissan passes off as a rear deck) to allow for magnet
room, then put a piece of 1" particle board/MDF to allow for more room,
and then look into maybe a 8" FREE AIR sub by Pioneer. They are some of
the best "free air" sub producers, but I am not sure that they make a 8"
sub in a free air configuration.
There is also a series of subs called the "Velocity" sub that you might
want to look into. They are a clean sub with an "opposite" mounted
magnet. This set up would bring the magnet of the sub to the front of
the cone, allowing more versatility to the mounting depth. I believe
that they offer an 8" sub as well, but you may have to put this sub in
an enclosure. This will require a little bit of innovation as the
enclosure would have to be mounted to the underside of your rear deck
(the underside of the metal part inside the trunk).
If there are any more car audio questions, I am up for the job. I have
been doing this for about 7 years as a "shade tree" stereo buff, and
have competed successfully in the past, so I think I know what I am
talking about. As with most things tho, I could be wrong, and actually
like being proven wrong, as it adds to my knowledge.
I hope this helps you figure out what is best :-)
