<Once the engine warms up and after about 1hr of driving, the
pining starts
up again. I got a feeling it maybe heat related, but I have no
idea. I tried
bleeding my heads again, but that didn't do anything.
I ran combustion chamber cleaner and several bottles of Techron
concentrate
to see if it was maybe hard baked carbon causing my problem. I
still have
the problem.
Pleaser don't suggest I look at the EGR or for vacuum leaks
because I've
already looked at all the usual suspects. I still can't get the
thing fixed.

Is it possible that what you are calling "pinging" really is not? This could
be pre-ignition. It would make sense because you have to drive for a while
and the engine has heated up before it happens. Pre-ignition (In case you
don't know...don't be offended if you do) is when a spot in your cylinder/s
(carbon deposit or spark plug) gets hot enough to start glowing and your
compressed fuel/air mixture is ignited from this instead of from the normal
timed spark from your plugs. When this happens, a cylinder can ignite before
it is supposed to and this can cause a form of pinging.
The best way to try to eliminate this possibility (If it is coming from the
plug/s) is to simply change your plugs and put in the next size colder
plugs. If your plug/s are gapped too wide, the electrode is farther down the
cylinder than possible and it does not have time to cool down enough before
the next "timed spark" and the fuel could be igniting from this hot spot
instead.
Hope this makes sense and helps you out.
