Guys,
For all you guys talking about tires. 215/40/17 tire will fit, but the
overall height of the tire is bigger than standard size (195/55/15 on the
SE-R). so is the 18 inch. If you have bigger tires, it doesn't hurt your
car, but it is working on your tranny and your speedo. If you ever want to
figure out what height your tires are here is an example:
Tire size being 215/40/17... ((215*.40)*2 / 25.4)+ size of wheel (17)
You multiply the width (215) by the section width (40) (divided by 100).
multiply your result by 2 and divide THAT answer by 25.4. whatever number
you come out with, add the size of the wheel to it. This number is the
HEIGHT of your tire from the ground to the top of the tire.
SO YOUR ANSWER TO THE SIZE OF THE 215/40/17 INCH TIRE SHOULD BE 23.77 INCHES
TALL. WHICH IS TALLER THAN A 195/55/15 (23.4) NOT BY MUCH.
