Yes you can do what I did for a while.  I am the same person who recommended 
rolling the fender lip with a board and hammer, very carefully of course, 
and I had the TSW wheels off the bimmer.  The other thing I did was while I 
had spring clamps on my front stock springs to pull the coils together I had 
another set on the rears.  The clamps are reversible to where they actually 
prevent the coils they are in between from compressing together.  When you 
do put them in there make sure you measure the gap between your coils while 
the car is on the ground so you know how far to set the spreaders apart.  If 
I remember right I jacked up the rear and then jacked up that corner under 
the shock with the wheel off to get them on there right because the spring 
expands when you jack the car up.  You want the spring compressed to the "on 
the ground height" in order for the clamps to stay in there.  You can get 
these at any basic auto parts store.  I got mine a discount auto parts.  I 
did take them off in the rear eventually because I sold the wheels to a guy 
with a civic, they rubbed on his car even worse.  If you have any more

I asked about my 16" rims rubbing fender in back,somebody suggerted to cut 
part of the fender OFF,would it be possible to get spacers or something?  I 
still have all stock suspension but will prolly go with new struts and 
shocks soon i just need a temp. and easy fix for now.Also do not want to cut 
fender because i have chrome fender trim.
