The new HotShot CAI has been redesigned for greater HP gain. If I remember
correctly, the filter-to-MAF pipe is 3" diameter, but the MAF-to-throttle
body pipe narrows to 2.5". I may be totally offbase, but I believe it
narrows after the MAF to maximize the velocity of the incoming air, which is
very important in a naturally aspirated car, since there is no turbo or
supercharger to force air into the cylinders. I believe the new CAI is also
ceramic-coated to keep underhood heat from raising the temperature of the
intake charge, which is also important in an NA car, since hotter air is
less dense and thus has less O2 to burn the fuel. This redesigned intake
should blow any other intake out of the water, unless it has a turbo
attached to the other end. It should be worth every penny, especially since
the price the group deal is shooting for is surprisingly low.
