Apropos of which, I had recently (within the last 6 months) cut out those
weenie
speaker holes in the back deck and put in a truly kickin set of 6x9s. I
know that
"truly kickin 6x9s" has been to date an oxymoron, but these are an
exception. Besides I don't have room for a sub. So here's the question:
the rear deck, being only slightly thicker than tinfoil, is too flimsy to
mount anything serious on. So how do you stiffen it without screwing with
the trunk spring rods? And how do you make the trunk a sealed enclosure?
My thought was to use relatively stout plywood on top of the deck and behind
the rear seat, along with enough caulk to get it fairly airtight. But the
problem is once you get that made, you need to prepare the surface so you
don't have just a bare wood rear deck. Any ideas?
