Well, that's what I did to get spacing on my 6x9's (they are too deep to
clear the springs otherwise).  Except I had to use 5/8" plywood to get
clearance...they are pretty hefty.  However there still remains the problem
of rear deck stiffness.  Speakers that otherwise kick ass don't do as well
when mounted to a flimsy deck like the B13s have.  Any other thoughts?

here is what i did. with my 6x9's i made a ring that was the shape of the 
speaker out of wood. then i covered it with a material called felt, black 
felt. it is thin and looks good. then i just attached the wood to the ring 
and the rest to the rear panel. with my amps. i attatched three to a piece
of 
plywood to the inside part of the trunk behind the seat. four screws hold
it, 
well. you can cover this wood with felt or carpeting or whatever. i do have 
little room in my trunk but man once i get the crossover i need, i will be 
pumping. later tony
