That's certainly what it sounds like. SR20's are notorious for doing this. I 
don't think it's a serious issue, just an annoyance. Could be wrong, though.

To my knowledge, all SR20's and GA16's use chains, not belts, regardless of 
year. In fact, I think all Nissans use chains. Could be wrong about that, 
too, though.
