You probably need to be talking to a car audio expert. I personally think
that if you are switching that much power on and off, you need to have BOTH
an aftermarket alternator and a huge capacitor to filter out the switching
transients. Just find a friendly car audio buff and pick his brain for a
while.

actually you might have good lead there. i've heard of people having
problems such as alternator whine simply because the alternator was on the
way out, perhaps he sound have it checked.

the rpm drop is caused by the alternator using more hp to product electrical
energy.

acutally if at 14 volts and on a high powered system like mine, there can
be as much as 60 amps going through, 60*14=840 watts which is more than
enough to induce noise on just about anything
