Look at an old GA16E, it looks like what happened is that when Nissan converted the 3 valve GA16E to 4 valves, creating the GA16DE, they wanted to use the same exhaust manifold, thus the weird port shape. It looks like the old exhaust manifold from the GA16E will bolt right onto a GA16DE. I cannot understand why they would do this, it ruins the exhaust flow. Now I understand why Bob Legere found the exhaust ports to flow so badly. I think this also might mean that the Hotshot header from the GA16DE might fit on an older B12 Sentra. The 95-99 head has equal exhaust ports and a bigger intake valve so it is the better head to use when building a motor. I cannot belive how small the 91-94 intake ports are. The heads will interchange. I belive the new head may raise the compression about 1/2 point also. I think this motor will gain a bunch with headwork but it will need a lot of work also to get the flow right. I thought I could port the head myself but it is beyond my skills, the head is at JWT now getting worked over. The other exciting thing is that I am working with R&D racing, who builds Jeremy Lookfskys all motor world record holder Integra to build a kit for the GA which will boost it up to 2000cc's. I should have a boat load of torque, perhaps even more than an SR20 due to the long stroke. This will be some of the first hardcore parts avalible for the GA. We are going to try to desing the kit so it iwll be affordable also. Of couse we will report the performance of everything in the tech section of sentra.net as we learn things.
