SEQUEL BENCHMARK RESULTS (ORIGINAL)
Requests per second:    8.72 [#/sec] (mean)
Time per request:       1146.993 [ms] (mean)

SEQUEL BENCHMARK RESULTS (TYPE CONVERSION ON WITH MONKEYPATCHING)
Requests per second:    8.24 [#/sec] (mean)
Time per request:       1214.272 [ms] (mean)

So very little difference I'm afraid.
