This is similar to when we switched to GitHub Issues, where all existing issues from Google Code were imported into GitHub Issues. GitHub probably has an API that supports importing into Discussions, but I'm less sure about Google Groups. However, Google Groups has been around much longer, so there probably is something that supports it.
