+0 for starting a pure OSGi deployment. This is such a massive task, I

We will see. Tomcat and Jetty are in mainstream use.

Breaking James never is fun, I can tell you ;-)
BTW, the only nightly which currently works as-is is the
spring-deployment. As I reported recently, the phoenix-deployment is
currently broken caused by JMS configuration issues.
