I agree with everything you wrote. Also, I get money from working on free software and I think it would not make sense to expect free software to be funded exclusively by unpaid volunteers time. It's a sane thing that people can make free software go forward by using companies money, by the way. That's not to say I won't help people in the community on my own time but I won't take any commitment to it and I think it would not help the community to offer such commitments.
