To switch from file to db repositories just open the config.xml file and
read some comment. You will find that for each "file" reference there is
also a commented "db" option.

The switch to NTFS is an operative system issue and you should refer to
someone that will be able to do system administration on your windows.
It is easy enough, but you have to know what you are doing and what
problems this could cause at the OS or applications installed in the OS.

Yes, Oracle is an option: I don't use it anymore, but I used it as
backend for one of my JAMES Server for almost 2 years and it worked
fine.
You will need oracle jdbc drivers: I suggest you to download the latest
jdbc driver even if your oracle is not the latest one.

Once configured to use oracle JAMES Server will automatically create the
needed tables (inbox, users, spool). You can see some SQL in
sqlResources.xml if you are interested in the tables created and the
datatypes used (or if your DBA is interested in this).
