The best linux distro is the one that you know inside out. I recently had
another look at "real" unix (freebsd) and found it pretty trying compared to
debian/devuan, which I'm used to.

As a crude summary (I follow LWN) they're saying it's too much trouble to be
worth it. I totally disagree with that; it is a lot of fiddling to set up and
if you don't get it right you will lose mail and mail you send won't get to an
inbox. Once it's setup, with plenty of attention to firewalling, it just goes
along.

I agree that half the planet had it foisted on them and don't know any
different.

>PS: I will 'research' exim4.

Please don't run off with the idea I recommended that, especially on a James
list! As I like to say, "the devil you know is better than the devil you don't"
*ALL* mail exchangers are dragons IMO; I've gradually built up so much exim4
experience that I can't ditch it. If I set out on an email journey from scratch
in another life, I doubt I would choose exim4 again.

I hope the good folk here don't mind me admitting that I might not choose James
either. I definitely would not choose sendmail :-)
