I'm correcting you. I've never used the ServletExec debugger from an IDE
but from a Unix shell prompt exclusively. My purpose however, was for doing
thread dumps, not setting break points, etc.
The IDE support documents how to call the Debugger from any of the major
IDE's. If you want to start it from some other environment, it shouldn't be
too difficult to figure out.
>From what I can see the advantages of using the ServletExec debugger are:
* Documentation on how to call from many IDE's
* Based on the actual ServletExec engine with api 2.1 support
* It's free!
Some limitatons:
* The built-in web server doesn't support aliases, etc. However, given the
intent
of the debugger, this shouldn't be a problem for most people.
So, in summary, I would recommend the ServletExec debugger for testing and
developing servlets.
Check it out at http://www.newatlanta.com/.
