JRun is licensed per processor, but you can use it for multiple webserver
instances. We have many machines that run more than one webserver on them
so it is beneficial to us. ServletExec is per webserver instance. So if we
have one box with 2 webservers, we pay more (assuming a single CPU, of
course).
It seems like many people like the ServletExec product and they point out
performance and support. I'm kind of curious as to stability issues. Has
anyone experienced stability issues with either JRun or ServletExec. Which
one handles problems better? That last thing I want is a servlet engine
going down and taking down the webserver.
Thanks

I think you might want to recheck the JRun license. My understanding is that
JRun is priced per processor. If you have a 2 processor machine, you would
need to purchase a license for 2 JRun's. I prefer to not have a per
processor license as it's added paperwork, etc. I believe that ServletExec
is priced on a per server, not per processor. This makes it nice in terms of
license tracking or if you go from 1 CPU to 2 CPU's, you don't have the
extra hassle/cost of adding another license.
