I am compelled to thank everyone including Howard Taylor, who were part of
this thread of discussion in the past 24 hours. I saw particularly solid
defense of Java that I could not ever have been able to articulate. Some
of the replies were even motivational for anyone who may be just slightly
disenchanted with Java. I hope to quote and reuse some of those insights
( without having to give attribution no less).

To top it off, some of us learned of a name for someone we all had met in
life but didn't know as a troll.

I gained a lot from this series of mail even though it may be strictly off
topic.

Its an old netspeak thing (I guess I'm showing my age):

"Someone that waits for an interesting couple of words and
then jumps on them, thrashing and trashing until the ether is
filled with useless diatribe."

"Someone who say inflammatory things that cause long and pointless
debate over a question that was never really sincere in the first
place, a question usually posed by someone who won't even bother
to read the followup."
