The checksum problem is that Apple's application 'Disk Utility' apparently has a bug in it. After some experimenting with some freeware apps, I found the MD5 as: f104f7b5a8ef96d305e1dfe221f06828, three different apps all agree.
My OS is 10.5.8. My Processor is intel. I have OS 10.6.4 and 10.4.11 also available to me on this processor type. My first effort to install was on Mac OS 10.5.8, the second was on 10.4.11. The Read Me states that 10.4 is supported.
