Steve,

Weelllll.... Saying that "my respect dissipates everytime he reiterates
the 'single floppy' issue" - might be just a tad harsh... (grin!!)

John - I think the masses have indeed spoken.

IMHO (as I said a message or so ago) - if someone is REALLY hung-up on
the "it's ABSOLUTELY GOT TO BOOT FROM A FLOPPY" issue - then the current
incarnation of STN will likely do very nicely for them. They probably
want it as simple as possible - plug it in and it works.

On the other hand - those who want to mess with the REAL GOODIES, and
fuss with the advanced features - asking them to set it up on a HD is
NOT a huge issue. -MY- STN installation has been running from a HD for
quite some time now.

I have taken the time to look at all the other "linux" based routers out
there - and I have a whole CD of various installs - not to mention the
CD images I have downloaded.... I have also tried to do this "from
scratch" using a RH 6.n / 7.n install - and is it doable - damn right it
is. Is is something you want to do with something less than a week or
two to fuss with it? heck no! -EVERY- other choice is horrifically
more complex to set up and get running. My time is worth something -
and before I will spend a week of my time to set up a "free" router -
I'll go buy one!

If you can combine the ease-of-use that the current STN provides - and
the advanced goodies that people need - you will again have leaped to
the head of the pack - open source or not.
