To the author of STN - Great Job! In less then an evening I got my 486
w/16 meg STN "router" to talk to my cable modem - There will be joy in
my house as now multiple people can surf the net at a given time! I will
be registering after another day or so of testing. Minor Questions:
* Will STN support AOL Instant Messenger (AIM)?
* If I share an NT or Win '98 file system - will it be "visible"
outside my network? I.e. does it get advertised out to my cable
modem?
I've seen the thread on the Great Printer Debate, and I just wanted to
add my $0.02. Our home system is a Windows 98 box - my laptop runs Unix
- other borrowed hardware may include an old Sun Sparc device. I would
*LOVE* to be able to share a printer across these machines. BUT NOT AT
THE COST OF SPEED OR SIMPLICITY! Also, for a printer solution to be
attractive, it must cross platforms (i.e. Unix & Windows.)
PS: Has anyone looked at the Network Concierge (http://www.nc4u.com/)?
NC touts a printer solution, but it also looks to be overkill for my
situation. Since their licensing includes SAMBA - I'm guessing that is
how they achieve printing.
