Thanks Christian.

I managed to find the source of my problem after some trial and error
between the original working machine (running Sharity 2.3) and the new one
running Sharity 2.6. During the original install of Sharity 2.6 I chose
'workgroup' as my workgroup. The entry appeared in the file
../var/cfgdb.ppl which I didn't know about. I was adjusting the domain
string in the sharity.cfg config file. Removing 'workgroup' from the
domain = ""; entry in cfgdb.ppl allows me to connect to the share. It
concerns me though that this file states it will be overwritten by the
daemon (I don't use the GUI at all).

On another note, is there a way to disable the CIFS/ browser directory
creation? I don't need this feature and would prefer to turn it off but I
don't see an option to do that in sharity.cfg.
