I have asked a number of people about my problem, but seems no one knows why.
I am the original owner of my '86 GLHS with 47000 on it, it has had to have the speedometer replaced 4 times. It has happened with both the original and upgraded A585 transmission. The cable has been replaced 2 times. It starts with the needle bouncing and then swinging back and forth. As it gets worse I hear a "pinging" sound. Then its dead Any ideas? I've have had a couple "unusual" problems with this car since day one. Such as a seemingly unsolvable over heating problem. "Everything" has been replaced sometimes more than once. Above about 80 degrees and it is unusable.
