Hi Thomas,
I'm not sure what you're asking. I will assume you want to drop a 88 engine
into a 86 GLH, but I need more information.
88 2.5 n/a? 88 2.2 n/a? 88 2.2 turbo TI? 88 2.2 turbo TII?
86 GLH n/a? 86 GLH turbo?

Harry

What is a drop a 1988 engine into a 1986 GLH? Do I need a 1988 computer (brain
box)?

Tom

I don't know about carb cars. I know turbo cars. In turbo cars, ALL power
module between 85-87 are exactly the same, even L body. You can swap put a 85
in a 87 and the car will work just fine. There is nothing special about a power
module, even a manufactured one. Power Module does what the Logic Module says,
the programming is actually inside the Logic Module, LM tell the PM when and
what circuit to turn on and off. There is no programming inside a PM.

Exactly, the later years added more features for the unit so they would no
longer have to use a separate kick panel computer. For the earlier carburated
models these units had vacuum unit on the side to plug a hose into.

The later computers for the turbo & EFI models had a blockoff in that area. So
I know at the the least it's for a carburated model but there is about a dozen
or so different variations of them and I don't know this ones exact
application.
