Here's my take on wedges - this is somewhat supported by the tour pros that I've
worked with.

If you intend to use any wedge for a significant number of full swing shots, the
swingweight should be roughly the same as the rest of the clubs you use for full
swings. By significant, I mean that you consider the wedge(s) as specific yardage
clubs, like a 5 or 7 iron - i.e.: when you're typically 100 yds away, you hit the SW,
not a 3/4 PW.

If wedge(s) is/are used for mainly specialty shots that require less than a full
swing, the swingweight should be heavier, thereby allowing for a better feel for the
clubhead while it's moving slower.

This is interesting when you look at OEM wedges - Clevelands are weighted more for the
first scenario (D3/D4), while Vokeys are weighted more for the second (D5/D6).

Personally, I follow the first scenario, and I needed to drill the hosel deeper in my
LW with a 1/4" bit to lighten up the clubhead.

Reshafting a couple of lob wedges and was interested into the thoughts of those more knowledgeable than I on what the SW of a LW should/could be ?? Should it be the same as the irons, heavier or perhaps lighter ?

Personally my irons are all D4 with the SW and LW D6 but I was thinking perhaps a lighter swingweight for the LW gives the ability to really release the head quickly which is needed in those high popup floaters we all try in vain to hit.

Then again I could have left the acetone bottle open too long and am becoming delusional with over analysis and irrelevant thoughts.
