Twas reshafting a Bang White Long Drive Prototype (great looking and hitting head that one) for a customer which had a super short 1/8" ferrule and I had to fit a 1" ferrule as it was all I had that was the right size - it was one of these need it today jobs.

Anyway got to thinking does a long ferrule have the same effect as lengthening the hosel and bore of a club ? Do they have enough rigidity to make a measurable difference to shaft frequency ? Should there be a level of factoring for this length and rigidity ?

After staring at my navel for a while I came to the consensus that they would increase shaft stiffness marginally though it is unlikely to be an issue in a set of woods or irons that all have the same ferrule and bore depths.

But what if the ferrule types and lengths are mixed within the set due to reshafts or other odd circumstances ? What is the opinion of the wider (and wiser) Shoptalk community ? Am I focusing on a negligible factor in the final fit - have I spent to long with the Acetone bottle open again ....
