Subject: ShopTalk: Shoes

I decided to buy a pair of "Bite" golf shoes. I couldn't find a distributor
that stocked them locally so I ordered from Bite direct. I emailed and had
a "live chat" with a fitting "expert." She suggested I measure my foot from
toe to heel and she then would tell me what size they recommend. I did.
They recommended size 10 1/2. I then called on the phone and discussed it
with a rep. Again, 10 1/2 was the recommended size. So I ordered them. Too
small.

I called for a return authorization/exchange. They gave it but informed me
that since it wasn't their fault that the shoes were the wrong size, I'd
have to pay to ship the shoes back to them, and I'd have to pay for
shipping of the replacement pair. I argued that since their "expert fitter"
recommended - in fact insisted - that 10 1/2 was correct, that is was
Bite's fault, not mine, and thus I shouldn't have to pay double shipping.

They wrote back via email that not only would they send the new pair sans
shipping charge, they'd credit my shipping cost to them, and as a gesture,
they were sending a "BITE ME" hat.

Now, that's pretty damn good customer relations and a good guarantee.

BTW: The shoes are without doubt the most comfortable golf shoes I've ever
worn, bar none.
