Bernie, I found that the residual bend does affect the performance of the
shaft.
On steel shafts, I have taken apart "bad" clubs, found the spine (probably a
bend), oriented the NBP to the target, put them back together, and the clubs
were much improved.

After all, a bend affects the bending properties of the shaft, so I think it
is important to deal with it properly.
