Only occasionally do I have a grip that is worth saving.  I can't see spending money on a removal tool when I only have a couple each year.

Assuming you do not own an air compressor, you could fashion one of those insertion tools from a hacksaw blade, piece of wire or the thin piece of stainless steel flat stock from a worn out windshield wiper off your car! Most wiper blades have two of these pieces on each blade.  However you could get a syringe and needle (know any insulin users?) and inject the grip with solvent.

Many times I have explained the use of compressed air which works best! You can purchase a 5 gallon tank which you fill at the gas station and it will be ready to remove about 3-4 grips! Cost of tank and blowgun will be less than $30. If you purchase a compressor, air line, blowgun you could spend approx $110. You will recoup the cost in a very short time! I must have over 300 grips that have been removed from clubs that will be resold or reinstalled to upgrade used clubs (worn grips are disgarded or used as tool handles and other devices) and these more than pay for the compressor, over and over again. Knowing how to use this invaluable tool allows me to save ANY kind of grip including Winn, Velvet, TaylorMade  and Callaway (these are the toughest to save). Easiest to save are full cords and they go for the highest prices. I get so many grips that I sell to a guy who resells them at golf shows that salvaged grips have become a small side business!
Besides, owning a compressor allows me to regrip a full set of clubs in 10-15 minutes! A great customer service! If club making is more than a hobby, buy a compressor!
